BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Megan Yocke was named to the preseason All-Southeastern Conference team, the SEC office announced Wednesday. This marks the first preseason accolade of Yocke’s career.

Kentucky’s senior catcher from Sunnyvale, Calif., is one of 13 players selected by the league’s 11 coaches for the preseason All-Conference team. Yocke is the lone representative behind the plate. Four infielders, five outfielders, two pitchers, a catcher and a utility player were selected with no ties broken.

Yocke has started in all 170 games in her career for the Blue and White. She is a three-time All-SEC selection after earning All-SEC second team honors as a sophomore and junior. She was an All-SEC Freshman team honoree in her first season. A season ago, Yocke was also a member of the All-Defensive team as a catcher.

She holds a career batting average of .311, which has progressively improved in every season. A threat at the plate, Yocke can provide offense with a swing of the bat with 14 career home runs – including a pair of grand slams, or advancing runners with over 36 career sacrifice hits. She is also a sensational defensive player behind the plate for the Wildcats. Yocke possesses a .989 career fielding clip and has registered 840 career putouts. She has committed just 10 errors in her career, and a mere three in the previous two seasons in helping UK to 66 victories and consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.

Only five of the league’s 11 teams were represented on the All-SEC list. Florida led the way with four players selected. Alabama and Georgia each garnered three players named to the team. Tennessee had a pair of players tabbed to the squad, and Kentucky was represented by Yocke.

Kentucky begins the season at the Florida International Combat Classic on Feb. 11. UK will play Ohio State and Florida International on the opening day of competition.
