LEXINGTON, Ky. – In the midst of six consecutive Southeastern Conference road games, the Kentucky baseball team steps out of league play for a Tuesday tilt against Tennessee Tech, with first pitch at Cliff Hagan Stadium set for 4 p.m. ET.

The game will mark the first televised game on the Big Blue Sports Network, with Dick Gabriel (play-by-play), former UK star and MLB Gold Glove winner Doug Flynn (color) and Ryan Lemond (sideline) calling the action. Fans can see the game live on Fox Sports South, throughout the full footprint (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and parts of North Carolina), in addition to locally on C-WKYT. The Voice of UK Baseball, Neil Price, will also have the radio call of the contest, with the game broadcast live on WLAP 630-AM in Central Kentucky and online at UKathletics.com.

Kentucky (14-11, 2-4 SEC) is coming off a five-game week, posting two wins in the midweek and falling in a series sweep at SEC leader Alabama over the weekend. The Wildcats rallied for a 4-2 win over Cincinnati last Tuesday and posted a 12-4 win over Canisius on Wednesday.

The Wildcats then traveled to Tuscaloosa to face the red-hot Crimson Tide, with Alabama riding a complete-game shutout from ace Nathan Kilcrease to a 4-0 win on Friday, with UK falling on Saturday after an error in the bottom of the ninth led to an unearned, walk-off run. In the Sunday game, Bama plated four runs on six hits in the first inning, taking a commanding lead to an 8-3 win.

Kentucky has posted a .302 team average through its first 25 games in the 2011 season, slugging 17 homers and stealing 43 bases. The Wildcats have posted a 3.93 ERA on the mound as a club and have fielding .973.

The Wildcats have been led by freshman J.T. Riddle, who has batted .349 with five doubles, two homers and 11 RBI. Outfielder Chad Wright hit .348 with three homers and 19 RBI, adding 11 stolen bases. Senior shortstop Taylor Black hit .317 with six doubles, two triples, one homer and 19 RBI, while centerfielder Brian Adams has hit .306 with six doubles, eight RBI and five steals. Catcher Luke Maile has hit .306 with eight doubles, one homer and 13 RBI, while third baseman Thomas McCarthy has batted .302 with a team-high 10 doubles, adding two homers and nine RBI, drawing a club-best 13 walks.

In the bullpen for UK, freshman Trevor Gott (1-2, 0.00 ERA) is tied for the team lead with 10 appearances, posting one save and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings, not allowing an earned run. Sophomore right-hander Walter Wijas (3-0, 1.37 ERA) has worked a bullpen-leading 19.2 innings, striking out 17 and junior southpaw Alex Phillips (1-1, 2.92 ERA) has struck out 10 in 12.1 frames. Senior southpaw Mike Kaczmarek (0-0, 1.23 ERA) leads the team with four saves in 7.1 innings and Braden Kapteyn (0-1, 4.32 ERA) has totaled two saves in seven outings, striking out 16 with just one walk in 8.1 innings.

UK leads the all-time series with Tennessee Tech, 5-1, winning four consecutive meetings. The two teams last meet in 2006, with UK posting a 7-3 win in Lexington.

Tennessee Tech (8-13, 0-0 Ohio Valley) didn’t play last weekend due to inclement weather, with its last game coming as an 11-2 loss at Vanderbilt on March 22. The Golden Eagles have hit .279 as a team through 21 games, belting 15 homers and stealing 13 bases. On the mound, TTU owns a 5.74 team ERA, with two saves and 165 strikeouts in 188 innings, with the club fielding .960.

Zach Stephens has led the Golden Eagles with a .384 average, adding eight doubles, one triple, five homers and 27 RBI. Zaphan Guyear has hit .318 with three doubles and nine RBI, while Evan Frazier has added a .318 mark with two homers and 10 RBI. Chad Oberacker, the TTU top returning player from 2010, has hit .258 with four homers and 16 RBI. In the bullpen, Garrett Baugh (2-1, 3.50 ERA) and Cullen Park (0-1, 5.95 ERA) lead the team with 10 appearances each, with Park totaling a save and 27 strikeouts in 19.2 innings.

The Wildcats are going to turn to freshman southpaw Corey Littrell (3-1, 5.72 ERA) for his fifth career start. Littrell has tossed 28.2 innings with 30 hits allowed this season, walking 11 and striking out 24. TTU is going to start sophomore right-hander Tristan Archer (3-2, 5.58 ERA).

Parking


Parking at Cliff Hagan Stadium is free.

UK will utilize two lots: the C8 lot behind Shively Sports Center, and brand-new Parking Structure 7 on the corner of Complex Drive and Jerry Claiborne Way. Both parking lots are only steps away from Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Fans who park in the PS7 lot will be given a parking value card to exit the structure free of charge. Value cards should be picked up at the baseball ticket booth prior to the fifth inning.

Fans should not use the university “R” lots adjacent to the dorms or on the south side of Nutter Training Facility. These lots are patrolled by the university 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Fans that park in these lots may be ticketed or towed. Plenty of parking will be available in the C8 and PS7 lots.
