LEXINGTON, Ky. -University of Kentucky football seniors Danny Trevathan and Winston Guy have been named to the CollegeFootballNews.com Mid-Season All-American and All-Southeastern Conference teams, the website announced Friday.

Trevathan was named a first-team All-American as a linebacker, while also receiving first-team All-SEC honors as well. The native of Leesburg, Fla., was also chosen as the fifth-best player in the conference by the website. Trevathan is having another outstanding season for Kentucky with 72 tackles through six games, which leads the SEC and ranks sixth in the nation. Against South Carolina, Trevathan became only the 18th player in school history to join the 300-tackle club.

Guy was also given a lot of praise by the website, as the native of Lexington, Ky., was chosen as a second-team All-American as a defensive back. Guy was also voted to the All-SEC first team and picked as the seventh-best overall player in the conference. Guy has played extremely well for Kentucky this season, ranking second in the SEC and tied for eighth in the nation with 67 tackles. Guy leads Kentucky in tackles for loss with 8.5 and interceptions with two.

Kentucky is coming off its lone bye week of the year. The Wildcats will play their final non-conference contest of the year on Saturday when they host Jacksonville State at Noon ET at Commonwealth Stadium.

Murphy, Guy Named Game Captains for Saturday: University of Kentucky senior offensive lineman Billy Joe Murphy and senior safety/linebacker Winston Guy have been named game captains for Kentucky’s non-conference battle with Jacksonville State on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium at Noon ET.

Game captains are usually chosen on the basis of performance in the previous game. Murphy has played well for Kentucky so far this season. The native of Gamaliel, Ky., was the game captain and started for Kentucky against Western Kentucky and has started four games this season. For his career, Murphy has played in 37 games, making 13 starts.

Guy has been a force on the defensive side of the football for Kentucky, ranking second in the Southeastern Conference and tied for eighth in the nation with 11.17 tackles per game. The native of Lexington, Ky., has five double-figure tackle games this season, including a season-high 14 stops against South Carolina. This is the third time this season he has been the game captain for the Wildcats.

Murphy and Guy will join permanent game captains Danny Trevathan and Stuart Hines at the pregame coin toss.
