LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky women’s basketball junior guard A’dia Mathies was named the Southeastern Conference’s Co-Player of the Week, the league office in Birmingham, Ala., announced Monday.
Mathies, a 5-foot-9 guard from Louisville, Ky., earned the honor after scoring a season-high tying 20 points in the 74-54 upset of No. 10/11 Louisville. She nailed a career-best four 3-pointers while also adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 32 minutes of action.
Overall, Mathies leads Kentucky (8-0) in scoring with 16.0 points per game and has scored in double digits in all eight games this season. She leads the SEC and ranks ninth nationally in steals per game (4.1).
The Cats, who moved up two spots to No. 10 in this week’s Associated Press poll, return to action Thursday, Dec. 8 for their second straight matchup against a top-10 team. UK will meet No. 6/7 Duke at 6 p.m. ET in Rupp Arena.
