LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fresh off a dual-meet victory of Indian River State College last week, the University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will face their first Southeastern Conference opponent head-to-head on Saturday, as the Wildcats will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for a meet with the Alabama Crimson Tide at noon ET at the Alabama Aquatic Center.
“We are excited to be getting into the second part of the season,” UK head coach Gary Conelly said, who is in his 21st season. “Alabama should be a good challenge for us. We are looking forward to some fast swims and exceptional dives. The SEC Championships are just around the corner, and our meets with Alabama and Emory should be good indicators of what to expect.”
UK enjoyed tremendous success in the early part of the year, including wins over Southern Illinois, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky.
The meet on Saturday afternoon will mark the first of four consecutive dual meets leading up to the SEC Championships Feb. 15-18 in Knoxville, Tenn.
On Sunday afternoon, UK will compete against Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. The first race on Sunday will begin at 11:00 a.m. ET.
