LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky softball team will remain home for a three-game series with No. 10/11 Georgia beginning with a Friday night first pitch of 8:15 p.m. ET at the UK Softball Complex. The opening game of the series will feature the two squads on ESPNU with Cara Capuano and Cheri Kempf on the call. The two teams will complete the series with 1 p.m. ET games on both Saturday and Sunday.

The first 50 fans to Friday night’s contest will receive free UK softball trading cards, while the first 50 students will receive a free hot dog and soda.

Kentucky (19-22, 6-8 Southeastern Conference) earned a split with Arkansas in a midweek conference doubleheader on Wednesday. The Cardiac Cats needed some late-game magic to win with a walk-off homer in the opening game of the series. After scoring runs in the home half of the sixth and seventh innings to force extra frames, senior Erika Silence blasted a pinch-hit three-run walk-off homer to take down the Razorbacks by a 9-7 score.

The home run was the second of the season for UK’s senior and the fourth of her career. It marked the first time in her career she has smacked a walk-off hit, and it was the first of the season for the Blue and White.

Sophomores Lauren Cumbess and Emily Jolly were magnificent offensively for the Wildcats in the series. Cumbess (.571) and Jolly (.500) both logged a team-high four hits while Jolly also scored three runs in the series.

Senior Brittany Cervantes drove in a team-best four runs and also homered for a fourth consecutive game to lead the power. Fellow classmate Rachel Riley also went yard in the second game of the series.

Georgia earned two wins over South Carolina in a midweek clash on Wednesday in Athens, Ga. Georgia currently owns a 33-8 overall mark and an 11-5 clip in league action. The Bulldogs are led by Kristyn Sandberg at the plate who boasts a .356 average and 11 homers. Erin Arevalo leads the pitching rotation with a 15-3 record and a 1.19 ERA.

The Bulldogs own a 43-10 overall record against the Wildcats. UK has had recent success, however, as the Wildcats scored the program’s first postseason victory in the 2009 SEC Tournament over Georgia. In the 2010 season, Samantha DeMartine hit a walk-off homer to take one of three in a series with the Bulldogs the last time the teams met in Lexington.
