LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky rising sophomore sprinter Devinn Cartwright qualified for the semifinals of the 400m hurdles Thursday at the International Association of Athletics Federation World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Cartwright finished third in her heat with a time of 1:00.72.

Cartwright’s time of 1:00.72 betters her best time of the collegiate season by 1.64 seconds. Cartwright finished third in her heat, which automatically qualified her to the semifinals. Cartwright is one of 24 athletes to advance to the semifinals which will occur Friday at 1:35 p.m. ET. The Bahamas native will also race in the first round of the 100m hurdles Friday at 4:05 a.m. ET.

The semifinals of the 100m hurdles is Saturday at 12:35 p.m. ET. The finals of the 400m hurdles is Sunday at 2:45 p.m. ET, and the finals of the 100m hurdles is Monday at 12:20 p.m. ET.

The IAAF World Junior Championships are being held from July 10-15 at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. The event features 180 countries with the best athletes in the world under the age of 20.
