LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rising senior Heather Lott and rising junior Liz Breed will represent the University of Kentucky women’s golf team in the 3rd Annual Pure Silk Women’s Collegiate Team Championship, a 54-hole stroke play event set to begin Tuesday, July 31st at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club, in Powell, Ohio.
The three-day Championship is made up of more than 50 two-person teams with players being paired with players from the same university. The unique format of the Championship will lead off with alternate shot on day one followed by best ball on day two and aggregate score of the two players on the final day.
Lott, a native of Baton Rouge, La., finished her junior season with a 78.17 scoring average after competing in all 10 events for the Wildcats. She shot a season-best 72 three times, including at the Alamo Invitational, SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational and the 2012 Bryan National Collegiate. Lott’s best 54-hole score came at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational, a 12-over-par 222.
Breed finished her sophomore year with one top-10 finish, placing eighth at the Alamo Invitational with an 8-over-par 218. The Waynesboro, Pa. native finished with a 77.25 scoring average in 24 rounds played. Breed shot a season-best 70 in the first round of the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational.
Wedgewood Golf & Country Club is an 18-hole private facility, considered one of the most challenging courses in Central Ohio. Opened in 1991, the golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
A Collegiate-Amateur Golf event will take place on Monday, July 30, with proceeds from the event benefiting A Kid Again, an Ohio based charity that provides fun-filled group activities for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. A Kid Again’s activities help to foster laughter, positive attitudes, normalcy, supportive networking opportunities and promote improved health for all.
Play will begin each day at 7:30 a.m. ET with players teeing from the first and 10th tee box.
