LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky senior offensive lineman Larry Warford has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week by the league office for his strong play in Kentucky’s 47-14 victory over Kent State on Saturday.

Warford, a native of Richmond, Ky., graded out at 91.7 percent with eight knockdown blocks.
He was the primary blocker on Kent State’s Roosevelt Nix, former Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year who is on the Outland Trophy, Lombardi Trophy and Nagurski Trophy Watch Lists, and has an impressive 41 tackles-for-loss in his three-year career. However, Warford helped slow Nix during the game, only allowing him to record two assisted tackles and no tackles for loss.

This is the fifth honor of the season for Warford, who was named first-team All-SEC by league coaches and second-team All-SEC by media this preseason as well as a member of the Outland Trophy Watch List and Rotary Lombardi Trophy Watch List. It marked the second-consecutive first-team preseason selection for Warford.

Warford had an outstanding season in 2011, earning All-SEC second-team honors by SEC coaches, Associated Press and Phil Steele’s College Football. The 6-foot-3, 343-pound offensive guard has led Kentucky in knockdown blocks each of the last two seasons, including 34 last season.

Warford, who was named game captain for the Louisville game, has played in 37 career games for Kentucky, including 27 consecutive starts. Prior to 2011, Warford was named Sophomore All-America second team by CollegeFootballNews.com in 2010, while also earning All-SEC second-team honors by SEC coaches, AP, Rivals.com and Phil Steele’s College Football.

Warford shared the weekly honor with guard A.J. Hawkins from Ole Miss.
