LEXINGTON, Ky. — Already honored as the College Soccer News National Player of the Week, Kentucky junior Dylan Asher has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Asher, a native of Richardson, Texas, had a prolific week for the Wildcats, leading UK to a pair of conference wins with four goals in two games. The 5-foot-11 defender moved to forward for his first two career starts in place of injured UK leading scorer Tyler Riggs and netted his first career goals in the two-game span.

In the 1-0 result at 10-win Marshall, Asher netted his first career goal in his debut at forward. On Sunday night, Asher recorded the eighth hat trick in program history in a win over FIU, finishing goals in the third, 41st and 57th minutes.

A two-time All-Conference USA defender, Asher has helped direct UK to a 7-2-1 record over the last 10 games after Kentucky opened up with a 1-4 record in 2012. In his career, Asher – a freshman All-America honoree in 2010 – has played in 45 games with 43 starts, totaling four goals and three assists.

The conference accolade is the first of Asher’s career and the second for a UK player in 2012, as junior keeper Jack Van Arsdale was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week in September.

Kentucky (8-6-1, 3-1-1 C-USA) will return to action on Saturday, traveling to face Tulsa at 8 p.m. ET at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Complex.
