San Antonio, Texas – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team concluded their first round of the Alamo Invitational on Sunday, carding a 4-over-par, 292. The Wildcats are tied for eighth and are separated by just six strokes from second place.

“I am proud of my team for playing with great attitudes today,” head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “They played smart and fought all the way to the last putt. We will continue to pick good targets and play with a good attitude tomorrow and start climbing up the leaderboard.”

Senior Heather Lott fired a sizzling round, finishing with a career-low 2-under-par, 70. Lott recorded a team-high four birdies on the afternoon, with two coming on each nine and is tied for seventh individually. The Baton Rouge, La., native was even par on the front nine before wrapping up her day with 2-under on the back nine.

Ashleigh Albrecht is tied for 25th after carding a 1-over-par, 73. The senior sank two birdies on Sunday, including one on the par three No. 15 to get back to 1-over on the day.

Junior Liz Breed also recorded two birdies on the afternoon and is tied for 31st at 2-over-par. Freshman Cylia Damerau recovered from a slow start to finish her first round at 3-over-par and is tied for 39th. Damerau was 5-over on the front nine, before tallying three birdies and a score of 2-under on the final nine. Fellow freshman Sarah Harris is tied for 62nd at 6-over-par.

Round two of the tournament will resume on Monday with Harris teeing off first for UK at 9:30 a.m. ET., while Damerau, Breed, Albrecht and Lott will follow, respectively, in eight minute intervals.
