LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Gymnastics team’s first intra-squad meet of the season ended in a tie as the blue and white teams totaled scores of more than 195 at the Nutter Field House Training Facility on Friday.

“We took another important step in our preparation for the season today,” head coach Tim Garrison said. “It was by no means a flawless day, but I think we are in a good place for mid-November.”

Both teams were evenly matched totaling the same scores through four rotations during Friday’s action, which was the team’s first time in front of a live crowd this season.

“The Blue and the White teams both successfully completed routines,” Garrison said. “Now we need to move beyond just successful routines and focus on the details that will maximize our team score during the season.  What we are able to accomplish from now to the beginning of our season will ultimately determine how competitive we are in the SEC and nationally.”

The annual Blue/White Scrimmage will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6 at Memorial Coliseum. The event will feature an intra-squad scrimmage and serve as the final tune-up for the Wildcats before the 2013 season opener. Admission to the event is free.

The Wildcats will begin their regular-season schedule on Jan. 6 with a four-team meet between host University of California, Auburn and Arizona.
