PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team travels to Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., this weekend as it prepares for the third annual alumni match Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Old Palm Golf Club.

Eight of the 11 Wildcats on the roster will make the trip, including seniors Joseph Barr and Chase Parker, juniors Matthew Anderson, Cody Martin, Stephen Powers and newcomer Ben Stow, sophomore Will Bishop and freshman Harrison Greenberry.

Stow comes to UK from Salisbury, England where he was rated as the No. 2 ranked European golfer last summer. Stow was not eligible for the fall season due to transfer regulations.

“This is our third straight year of the alumni match and it’s a great opportunity for our guys to connect with a few former Wildcats and play a round at the beautiful Old Palm Golf Club,” head coach Brian Craig said. “It will be good for our guys to get out and play in some Florida weather and we are looking forward to a great weekend in Palm Beach and excited for our spring season to get underway in February.”

Among the alumni joining the current UK golf team are Mark Blakefield (2001-03), Seth Blann (2008-12), Brad Doster (2003-07) and Andy Winings (2005-09).

Blakefield was an All-SEC performer for the Cats and won the 2010 Ocala Marion Sports Commission Classic on the National Golf Association Hooters Tour Pro Series. Blann was a member of the UK squad over the past four years, including this past fall before graduating in December. Doster, a 2006 All-Southeastern Conference second team selection, and Winings, a 2008 and 2009 second team All-SEC performer, played on the 2006 team together that finished fifth at the NCAA Championships.

Excluding team practices, the exhibition match is the first and only round the Wildcats will play until they tee off their spring season at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate on Feb. 18-19, in Mobile, Ala.
