Ravita Named to All-SEC, All-Freshman Teams
April 24, 2013
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a strong freshman campaign that featured 10 wins over ranked opponents, freshman Nadia Ravita was named to the All-SEC Second Team and Southeastern Conference All-Freshman team, announced Wednesday by the league office.
A native of Jakarta, Indonesia, Ravita has spent all of her freshman year in the No. 1 singles slot for Kentucky, posting a 20-4 record in the spring, including 10-3 in conference matches.
Ravita is the first Kentucky player to be named All-SEC since Christine Johnson in 2010 and the first freshman to be named All-SEC since Megan Broderick in 2008.
Ranked as high as 22nd nationally, the freshman has boasted the highest-singles ranking for a UK player since 2006 when Kim Coventry opened the season ranked 15th. Ravita’s singles record is the best record for a member of the program since Christine Johnson went 20-4 in 2008.
Her signature win came early in conference play when she knocked off fourth-ranked Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar of Texas A&M. After dropping the first set 6-2, Ravita stormed back to take the second set 6-4 and claim the match with a 6-2 win in the third set.
As a second-team selection, Ravita defeated three members of the first team, all of which are currently ranked in the top 30.
In doubles play, Ravita has won nine matches in the No. 1 doubles slot, all paired with junior Caitlin McGraw.
