No. 30 Kentucky Hosts Arkansas and No. 32 Ole Miss This Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky (8-4, 1-0 SEC) men’s tennis team will continue Southeastern Conference play this weekend against Arkansas (8-5, 1-1 SEC) and No. 32 Ole Miss (9-3, 1-1 SEC). UK will take on the Razorbacks on Friday at 5 p.m. and the Rebels on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
Last weekend, UK went 1-1, and started SEC play with a win. The Wildcats breezed by Alabama, 4-0. UK took the doubles point, and Enzo Wallart, Ryo Matsumura and Kento Yamada earned singles wins for Kentucky. Matsumura’s victory over No. 113 Mazen Osama was his second ranked win of the season.
 
Matsumura is the only ranked Wildcat at No. 49 in the latest Oracle ITA Rankings. Matsumura moved up 14 spots from No. 63 and is 8-1 this season and is currently riding a three-match winning streak. Trey Yates and Enzo Wallart are ranked in doubles at No. 63.
 
Arkansas is 8-5 this season so far, and has an SEC win over LSU, 6-1. Arkansas is 0-4 against Ranked opponents this season, most recently falling to No. 7 Texas A&M, 7-0. Jose Salazar has appeared on the No. 1 court in every match this season and is ranked No. 84 and 9-3 this season. Salazar is 1-1 in conference play this season.
 
Ole Miss is 9-3 overall and 1-1 in league play this season. The Rebels are 1-3 against ranked opponents, with its win over No. 15 Virginia on the road, 4-1. Ole Miss has three ranked players, No. 19 Tim Sandkaulen, No. 48 Gustav Hansson and No. 103 Filip Kraljevic. Hansson has appeared nine times on the No. 1 court and is 5-4 overall and 4-4 against nationally ranked opponents.
 
After this weekend, Kentucky will continue SEC play on March 16 at Florida at 5 p.m.
