No. 30 Kentucky Takes Down No. 32 Ole Miss, 4-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 30 Kentucky men’s tennis team remained undefeated in Southeastern Conference play on Sunday afternoon, blanking No. 32 Ole Miss, 4-0, to move to 10-4 overall with a perfect 3-0 mark in SEC play. The Rebels fall to 9-5, 2-3 SEC.
 
Through some close doubles action, the Wildcats persevered to take an early 1-0 lead in the match with wins on courts one and three. Cesar Bourgois and Gus Benson were the first to strike, defeating No. 15 Fabian Fallert/Tim Sandkaulen, 6-4. Austin Hussey and Will Bushamuka followed with a big 7-5 victory in No. 3 doubles to clinch the point.
 
Trey Yates extended the Wildcats’ lead to two in the match with a dominating 6-2, 6-2 win on court four over No. 103 Flip Kraljevic. Bushamuka followed suit with a strong 6-4, 6-2 victory in No. 2 singles to bring Kentucky within one point of the team victory.
 
Ryo Matsumura sealed the victory for Kentucky as he took down 19th-ranked Sandkaulen, 7-5, 6-2 in No. 1 singles.
 
Hussey was up 5-0 in the first set over Finn Reynolds on court five as play ceased.
 
The Wildcats will continue SEC play next weekend, hitting the road to take on the Florida Gators at 5 p.m. ET on Friday before playing at South Carolina at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
