Courtney Jones is in her 17th season at Kentucky and 15th season as the women’s basketball athletic trainer in 2023-24, while also working with the UK rifle team. She also oversees all women’s health issues and protocols for all sports.

Jones came to UK from Northwestern University where she served as the primary athletic trainer for the women’s basketball and cross country teams for five years.

The Crown Point, Ind., native currently has 16 years of athletic training experience under her belt since earning her master’s degree in kinesiology from Kentucky in 2003. Jones began her career as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for UK, caring for the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams in 2001.

Before taking the position at Northwestern, Jones went to Barton College for a year in August 2003 where her primary responsibilities were tending to the volleyball and softball teams. She also was an assistant professor, teaching athletic training taping practicum, first aid, CPR and athletic injuries and kinesiology.

Jones attended undergrad at Purdue University and completed a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2001. Jones is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and a certified strength and condition specialist.

She and her husband Todd reside in Lexington with their son Connor and daughter Avery.
